Distinguished Lecturer/Artist Series
The C.S. Lewis Study Center hosts distinguished speakers and artists to stimulate conversation, reflection, and the intentional pursuit of one’s calling within the context of a growing Christian faith. We were pleased to host Nicholas Wolterstorff, Paul Vitz, Mary Poplin and Junius Johnson at the 2016 Faith, Freedom & the Public Square Summer Conference held at UMass, Amherst.
Classical and Modern Literature Seminars
The most influential works of world literature, including the Bible, prompt lively discussions of life-challenging ideas. Led by experts in their fields, we have explored such works as Flannery O’Connor’s short stories, Plato’s Euthyphro, and Lewis’s Mere Christianity and Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer.
Arts Workshops
The community is invited to participate in a variety of workshops and presentations led by active poets, writers, artists, musicians, actors, directors and film makers. Award-winning guest poets at sponsored events have included Malcolm Guite and Brad Davis.
Community Resources
The C.S. Lewis Study Center offers a growing body of research materials for those interested in C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and the Inklings. Information on Lewis’s life and legacy may be found at www.cslewis.org, along with study guides for several of his works, a collection of peer-reviewed academic papers in the online journal In Pursuit of Truth, blog postings, and valuable links to other related resources. The Study Center is continually adding to its collection of works by and about C.S. Lewis for visitors to peruse.
